Professional Biography

 

Raymond C. Horton, Sr., has been in the Financial Services Industry more than forty years.

Professional designations include: “Chartered Life Underwriter”, “Chartered Financial Consultant”, “Fellow of the Life Underwriter Training Council”, “Registered Financial Consultant” and is a Registered Representative of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and Carillon Investments, Inc. He majored in Finance at Louisiana State University at Shreveport with minors in Marketing and Music.

He is President of Horton Financial Services, L.L.C., an Insurance & Investments* Practice, and Horton Consulting Group, a fee-for-service division of Horton Financial Services.

His professional service to the Industry includes:

  • Past President of the Tax Institute of the Ark-La-Tex
  • Past President of the Shreveport Tax & Estate Planning Council

He is an occasional speaker to Organizations, Companies and State Government on Tax Savings, Ethics, Economics, Money Management, Survival in Life & Business, Innovative Action Plans for Business or Individual use, and other topics, and is a published author in Industry periodicals. He produces and distributes an original “Financial Choices”© bi-monthly newsletter, which is dedicated to making good choices, financial, or otherwise. His original "Innovative Action Plan "©, a project-planning tool is widely utilized by Business and Industry. In 1998, he was made “Honorary Commissioner of Insurance for the State of Louisiana”.

His clientele is Business Owners, Professionals and qualified Individuals in numerous States. He maintains all necessary licenses and meets all requirements for Continuing Education in all pursuits. He has received numerous local and national awards, including “Member of the Year” twice from local professional associations, “Member of the Year” for Louisiana (NAIFA) in 1997, and recipient of the National Management Award twice from the General Agents & Managers Association, and is a consistent member of the "Million Dollar Round Table". Recognition also includes Insurance Companies’ awards as “Agency of the Year”, “President’s Club”, and “Division Leader”. His clients number approximately 2,000. His new clients typically come from present client referrals and other Industry professionals.

His greatest career accomplishments are: 1) Placing more than $500,000,000 of life insurance benefits and investment portfolios on over two thousand policyholders and clients, and 2) establishing a clientele base of which over 95% has consistently continued a long term business relationship.

Married to wife, Rita, for 45 years. They have three grown children and five grandchildren. His hobbies include spending time with his family, music, gardening, reading, writing, and old movies.
